For those who would rather not purchase the pillows that are available, there is the option to make your own.  The best way to do this is to model it after one of the brands that work best for helping you to keep the baby in the right position.  In order to know which of the brands will help you to do this the best; you may need to take each one for a test run.  This does not mean that you will be breastfeeding using each of the different ones.  Rather, it means that you should go to the store and try placing the baby on each of them on your lap.  This will allow you to know if it will keep the baby lifted up to the right height and find any flaws that it might have for helping to keep the baby in the proper feeding position.

Before you spend money to purchase a nursing pillow or the time to create one on your own, you need to be sure that you have done the proper research.  Know which of the styles available will work the best for what you and your baby need.  The needs of each mother and infant can vary, and there are products available that vary to suit these different needs.  Find the product that works the best for you and stick with it.  You can do it!
